The answer

It is not permissible to abort a fetus due to straitened circumstances or hardship, for Allah has guaranteed the sustenance of His servants. This prohibition is emphasized if the fetus has reached forty days. This is indicated by the Almighty's saying: "And do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for them and for you. Indeed, the killing of them has always been a great sin." [Al-Isra: 31] And His saying: "And do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for you and for them." [Al-An'am: 151].
