What is the ruling on replacing the current Arabic numerals with European numerals, based on the theory that they are the original Arabic numerals, and to facilitate dealing with calculators and computers?

It is not permissible to change the current Arabic numerals' script to Western numerals because it has not been proven that Western numerals are the original Arabic numerals. Rather, the current numerals have become Arabic through prolonged use. This change has negative consequences as it is a step towards Westernizing the Islamic community, paves the way for changing Arabic letters, and is an imitation of the West. Moreover, the current numerals are used in all Qur'ans, books, and Islamic heritage, and changing them will make it difficult for future generations to benefit from this heritage. There is no need to follow some Arab countries that have adopted European numerals, as they have neglected something greater than that, such as the implementation of Allah's Sharia.
