The majority of jurists agree that infertility is not a defect that justifies the option of annulling the marriage contract. Ibn Qudamah said: "We do not know of any disagreement on this matter except from Al-Hasan." We have previously explained that a husband should not rush to divorce his righteous wife due to a lack of progeny; rather, he should keep her and marry a fertile woman in addition to her.
