Is it permissible to perform ablution without socks, then enter the bathroom, then perform ablution and wipe over the socks?

Performing ablution without socks is the original practice. Wiping over socks is permissible under certain conditions, including that they must cover the obligatory parts [of the feet], and that they must be worn after achieving a state of ritual purity (ṭahārah). Additionally, the duration for wiping is one day and one night for a resident and three days for a traveler. The period begins to be counted from the first wipe after an event that necessitates ablution (ḥadath). Wiping over socks made of cotton, wool, or other materials is valid, similar to wiping over leather slippers (khuff).
