The answer

The matter of the soul is among the unseen, the knowledge of which God has reserved exclusively for Himself. He has not informed us about it except for a little, and had there been benefit in delving deeply into it, Allah the Almighty would have elaborated on its matter for us. Allah the Almighty said: (And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about the soul. Say, "The soul is of the affair of my Lord. And you have not been given of knowledge except a little.") Al-Isra /85. If the reality of anesthesia is the same as the reality of sleep, then the soul during sleep is taken in a way that maintains a type of connection with the body. However, if the reality of anesthesia is different from the reality of sleep, then the knowledge of the soul's state in this case rests with Allah.
