Is the Hadith, "None but the noble honors women, and none but the ignoble debases women; none but the noble overcomes them, and none but the ignoble overcomes them. I wish to be overcome, i.e., noble, and not overcoming, i.e., ignoble," authentic from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him?

There is no Hadith (definition) from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with the exact wording: "None but a noble one honors women, and none but a wicked one debases them."

A very weak Hadith has been narrated from Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, with a similar wording: "The best among you is the best to his family, and I am the best among you to my family. None but a noble one honors women, and none but a wicked one debases them." This Hadith is considered "fabricated" (Mawdu') as stated by Al-Albani, due to defects in its chain of narration, including: the weakness of a narrator named Ikrimah, the falsehood of another narrator, and the accusation of fabrication against a third narrator.

The authentic Hadiths that encourage honoring women and being kind to them are sufficient and render this weak Hadith unnecessary. Among them are: - "Treat women kindly." - "The best among you is the best to his family, and I am the best among you to my family." - "O Allah, I declare inviolable the rights of the two weak ones: the orphan and the woman." The meaning of "inviolable" is: I attribute sin to anyone who neglects the rights of the two weak ones.
