Should a girl agree to her father's rejection of a suitor because of the distance between them, even though the young man is acceptable?

The general rule is that a girl should marry with the consent of her parents. If the father rejects a suitor who is competent in his religiosity and character, there is no harm in trying to convince him to agree to the marriage and seeking the help of those who can influence him. However, if he insists on his refusal without a religiously valid reason, the girl may take her case to the Sharia (definition) judge to solemnize her marriage. Otherwise, she can be patient and leave this young man, while severing the forbidden emotional relationship with him.
