Is it considered a sin to dislike marriage and to consider it restrictive of freedom?

If a person has a natural aversion to marriage, with their heart content in faith and submission to Allah's law, there is no sin upon them.

Marriage is only obligatory if one fears falling into sin; in such a case, whoever neglects it commits a sin, as it becomes necessary to protect oneself and divert away from the unlawful.

However, hating marriage and objecting to it as a divine legislation, or preferring something else over it, is an act of disbelief —we seek refuge in Allah— because it might lead to the belief that one's own action is superior.

Generally, one should not turn away from marriage, for it is a great blessing and the tradition of the Messengers. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, encouraged it and warned against shunning it.
