Is perfuming the beard from the Sunnah? And what is the Sunnah regarding applying perfume?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to use perfume frequently, especially musk and other scents. He loved pleasant fragrances due to their effect in preserving health and warding off ailments. It is sunnah to perfume oneself when attending gatherings of Muslims, assemblies of remembrance (dhikr) and knowledge, and when intimate with one's wife, and similar occasions. The best perfume is musk. Perfuming usually involves applying scent to the head and beard. It is permissible to perfume oneself with oud and incense on clothes, under the armpits, and on the beard. The intention is for a pleasant scent to emanate from the perfumed person, eliminating any unpleasant odors.
