Must I inform my husband about a pregnancy resulting from adultery, given that I have repented and my husband believes the pregnancy is his, and that the police became aware of the matter after the adulterer was apprehended? Will the hadd punishment be carried out on me, and does my confession to the police necessitate that?

Adultery is a grave sin, and its commission by a married woman is even more sinful. Repentance erases what came before it, and Allah accepts the repentance of those who repent. The Sharia warns against despairing of Allah's mercy and against suicide, which is considered misery and loss. You must conceal your sin and not inform anyone of it. The pregnancy is attributed to the husband, who is the owner of the bed. Do not let what happened with the police become an obsession. Rather, strive to forget the matter and distance yourself from the causes of temptation, and increase in good deeds. It is the Muslim ruler who enforces the Hadd punishments, and one upon whom a Hadd is due is not obligated to confess. It is recommended for one who has confessed to retract their confession, even after the Hadd has begun, and the Hadd will be waived for them. Conceal your sin, and be keen on raising your children upon goodness and virtue.
