Is it permissible for an aggrieved person to defend themselves and prove their innocence against false accusations, or should they leave their matter to Allah, especially if doing so would harm the accuser?

He who falsely accused you has erred, for the honor of a Muslim is Islamically protected. Allah will make the one who accuses a Muslim of what he is innocent of dwell in 'Radghat al-Khabal' (the mire of corruption). It is recommended to pardon and forgive, and to respond to evil with good, unless forgiveness leads to harm or an assault on one's honor and reputation. In such a case, the questioner is permitted to clarify the truth in a way that exonerates him, for the preservation of one's honor is among the necessities.
