Can a Muslim woman residing in a European country and working in a Christian school pray sitting on a chair at her workplace, given the absence of a suitable place for standing prayer (as all places contain crosses), and fearing the problems that might arise if someone sees her praying, bearing in mind that she delays performing the prayers at their appointed times or leaves them for many days if she returns home?

It is not permissible to abandon prayer on the pretext of working in a Christian school that contains crosses. Prayer is permissible therein, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The earth has been made for me a mosque and a means of purification, so wherever a man from my Ummah is overtaken by prayer, he should pray." The presence of crosses therein does not invalidate the prayer. Furthermore, it is not permissible to perform the obligatory prayer sitting on a chair if one is able to stand.
