There is no harm in hybridizing birds or mating two different types of birds, even if it results in a sterile bird. This is similar to the production of a mule from the mating of a donkey and a mare, which is a sterile animal. The mating of donkeys with horses was forbidden because it hinders the benefits of horses, which are needed for jihad, and reduces their numbers, unlike the mule, which does not possess these virtues.
