Is the discharge of a drop of blood after ten months of breastfeeding and the cessation of the menstrual cycle considered menstruation, thus necessitating the discontinuation of prayer?

The minimum duration of menstruation according to the majority of scholars is one day and one night, and this is the period relied upon for issuing fatwas. If the drop of blood does not reach this duration, it is not considered menstruation, and istinja' (purification after urinating or defecating) is obligatory. However, according to the Malikis and Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, the minimum duration of menstruation is a single discharge. In this case, ghusl (ritual bathing) is obligatory after the drop of blood if the bleeding stops and purity is observed. Performing ghusl as a precaution is good.
