What is the ruling on continuing studies in a non-Muslim country where there is an abundance of tribulations (fitan) and sins, taking into account that the family is awaiting the acquisition of the degree, and returning might cause them embarrassment?

It is not permissible to study in non-Muslim countries except out of necessity, provided the student possesses the knowledge to repel doubts and the steadfastness to resist temptations.

If you are confident in your ability to adhere to your religion, then there is no harm in completing your studies and making your father happy. However, if you know yourself to be incapable of that, then it is not permissible for you to remain or complete your studies there, and your father’s anger at that time will not be considered disobedience.

If it becomes Islamically impermissible for you to complete your studies, you can complete them in another Muslim country, thereby combining the preservation of your religion with making your father happy and completing your studies.
