Is the fluid that continuously issues due to prostate problems ritually impure?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Everything that exits a man’s ذكر (male organ) is impure, unless it is semen. If its discharge continues from the beginning of the prayer time until its end, without ceasing for a duration sufficient for purification and prayer, then it is considered سلس (incontinence). In this case, the person afflicted should tie a cloth around his ذكر and perform ablution for each prayer after its time has begun. However, if it discharges sometimes and stops at other times, he should wait for the time when it stops, then perform ablution and pray, unless he fears the prayer time will expire, in which case he should not wait but perform ablution and pray. Some فقهاء (jurists) hold the view that impurities that are continuously difficult to avoid are excused.
