Is it sinful to sit in a room adjacent to guests to listen to them for entertainment, and then leave if their conversation becomes private?

Listening to the words of others without their consent is not among the noble traits of character and may expose the perpetrator to a severe punishment, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever listens to the conversation of some people while they dislike it, or they flee from him, molten lead will be poured into his ears on the Day of Resurrection." It is obligatory to refrain from listening to their words unless they give permission, even if their dislike is not explicitly known, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade "entering between two whispering people." This act leads to eavesdropping, spying, and prying into people's private matters.
