Is it permissible to continue working as a police officer in a country governed by man-made law, while demanding the enforcement of this law, whether in areas of combating crimes or executing judicial rulings issued in accordance with it?

Working in the police, like other professions, is divided into permissible (mubah) and forbidden (haram) based on the nature of the tasks. If the tasks involve establishing justice, preventing injustice, and pursuing criminals, then it is permissible, and the doer will be rewarded for their good intention. However, if the tasks include oppressing people, seizing their money, assaulting them, and unjustly imprisoning them, then it is a forbidden act that will lead its perpetrator to the state of the bankrupt on the Day of Judgment. Cooperation in righteousness and piety is obligatory, while cooperation in sin and aggression is forbidden. Whoever enters this work with the intention of calling to good and removing injustice, there is no harm upon them. But whoever enters it to exploit the position and oppress people, then it is a forbidden act.
