How does a person see the soul at the moment of its departure after it has been seized, even though the body is dead and the sense of sight is not functioning?

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, informed us that when the soul is seized, the gaze follows it, indicating that it is something visible. This is the view of Ahl al-Sunnah (Sunnis). Ahl al-Sunnah believe that the deceased sees their soul when it departs from the body, but the nature and duration of this vision are unknown. Allah Almighty has reserved the knowledge of the soul to Himself, as stated in His saying: (And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about the soul. Say, "The soul is of the affair of my Lord. And you have not been given of knowledge except a little.")
