Is it permissible for someone afflicted with سلس (incontinence) or flatulence to wait for the congregational prayer to begin, or to perform the supererogatory prayers before the obligatory prayer despite the possibility of something being discharged? Is it permissible for him to lead the prayer? And if the only follower is disabled and seated, who has more right to lead the prayer? Is it permissible to perform ablution at home before going to the Haram due to the difficulty of performing ablution there? And is it obligatory to perform ablution for each obligatory prayer when combining missed prayers or when traveling?

If the dripping of urine does not last all the time, it is not incontinence. The person afflicted by it must perform ablution after the dripping stops, and it is permissible for him to lead the prayer like anyone else. However, if the dripping is continuous, then it is incontinence, and ablution for prayer becomes obligatory after the time for prayer begins. It is valid for a person with incontinence to pray supererogatory and missed prayers with a single ablution. The majority of jurists do not validate the ablution of a person with incontinence before the call to prayer (adhan). The imamate of a person with incontinence is valid, even though the Malikis dislike it. It is preferable to avoid it to steer clear of scholarly disagreement. As for the imamate of a disabled person (one who cannot stand), it is valid according to the Hanafis, Shafi'is, and Ahmad, if his disability is temporary and he is the imam of the locality. According to the Shafi'is, it is valid for a person with incontinence to be led in prayer by a disabled person and vice versa. However, the Hanafis validate the imamate of a sitting person for a person with incontinence, but not vice versa. According to the Hanbalis, it is not legislated for one of them to be led by the other due to inequality.
