How can a person be humble, not only in a religious sense but also in worldly matters and in their relations with people?

The disease of arrogance is dangerous, and its cause is rejecting the truth and despising people. Humility elevates a servant in the sight of Allah. Allah has commanded humility and forbidden boasting and oppression.

Among the characteristics of the humble are:

- Accepting the truth from whoever brings it. - Respecting and appreciating people. - Not seeking or being eager for praise. - Retracting from a mistake and thanking whoever guided them to the correction. - Attributing all grace and favor to Allah. - Belittling oneself and not seeing oneself as better than others. - Not seeking high positions, authority, or fame. - Not loving to preside over gatherings or have people stand for them. - Not disdaining to work in a permissible profession, carry goods, or wear modest clothes. - Accepting the invitation of the poor, visiting the sick, and sitting with them. - Not being content for others to walk behind them or for them to ride while others walk.

To learn humility, study the biography of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the biographies of scholars and righteous people, and associate with righteous people.
