What is the ruling on praying for one's own death, taking into consideration that some Companions and righteous individuals prayed for it?

This world is an abode of tribulation. The successful person is one who entrusts their affairs to Allah, endures with patience, and remains steadfast, for indeed, great reward comes with great tribulation.

What Sa'd ibn Mu'adh, may Allah be pleased with him, said during the Battle of the Trench: "O Allah, if You have kept anything remaining of the war with Quraysh for Your Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, then keep me for it. But if You have severed the war between him and them, then take me to You," is not among the prohibited forms of wishing for death. This is because he did not wish for death out of distress with life, but rather to attain the honor of martyrdom.

Therefore, yearning to meet Allah is not among the prohibited forms of wishing for death.
