Should a worshiper interrupt their prayer upon hearing the Adhan, or should they complete it?

If the muezzin calls the adhan while a worshipper is engaged in prayer, the worshipper should complete their prayer and not respond to the muezzin, because prayer takes precedence. As for the obligatory (fard) prayer, it should not be performed except after its time has begun. If a person is performing an obligatory prayer and realizes that it is before the time has entered, they should not complete it. It is permissible for someone with an excuse, such as a sick person or a traveler, to pray once they are certain that the time has entered, even if they have not heard the adhan, because the adhan might be delayed. The sunnah for a traveler is to call the adhan, then the iqama, and then pray after the time has been confirmed. As for someone who is a resident, it is permissible for them to pray after the time has entered and they are aware of it, even if they have not heard the adhan.
