Do the early signs of prophethood in the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), before the revelation descended, mean that he knew he would be a prophet?

It is not known whether the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, knew that he would be a prophet before his mission, and no saying of the people of knowledge has been mentioned regarding this. However, he may have known or expected it due to events such as the story of the monk who foretold his prophethood, and the stone greeting him with the message before his mission.
