It is permissible to say, "Man is Allah's vicegerent on Earth," based on what is stated in the : "If you see Allah's vicegerent on that day, then adhere to him," and the noble verse: ﴿Indeed, I will place [upon the earth] a vicegerent.﴾ Some scholars have disliked this broad statement unless it is intended to mean that Allah made him a successor to those who came before him.
