What should one look for when choosing a good Muslim husband?

The most important qualities of a righteous husband are: his religiosity, that he comes from a good family, that he possesses wealth with which he can maintain himself and his household, that he is kind and gentle with women, and that he is physically healthy and free from defects. It is also preferable that he be knowledgeable in the Book (Quran) and the Sunnah.

The guardian of the woman must inquire about the suitor and ask about him, and it is permissible for the woman to look at him in the presence of a mahram. Before all of that, one should turn to Allah with supplication, seeking His guidance (istikharah), and relying on Him.
