A woman should inquire about a suitor from trustworthy individuals. The husband's actions mentioned in the question indicate his disobedience to his Lord and his poor treatment of his wife. According to Islamic law, he is obligated to treat his wife well, fulfill her rights, and have a good opinion of her. It is not permissible for him to insult her, hit her, or falsely accuse her. She is not obligated to initiate intimacy. The wife should be patient, pray for his guidance, offer advice kindly, and strive to improve the situation. If this is not possible, she may request a divorce or khul' (annulment of marriage) if it is deemed to be in her best interest.
