Why was the Mushaf named Mushaf?

Mushaf: An instrument noun derived from "sahifa" (to write pages), collecting written pages between two covers. It is pronounced with a damma (u) on the letter mim, or a kasra (i), or a fatha (a), and all are valid linguistic forms. It was named as such because it was "us-hifa," meaning it was made to be a collection of pages.
