The answer

Sacrifice with a whale, horse, gazelle, or chicken is not valid because one of the conditions for (sacrificial animal) is that it must be from Bahiimat al-An'aam (grazing livestock), which are camels, cattle, and sheep. This is based on the Almighty’s saying: "And for every nation, We have appointed a ritual (of sacrifice) that they may mention the name of Allah over what He has provided for them of grazing livestock." (Al-Hajj: 34). Neither the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, nor any of his companions, are reported to have offered sacrifices with anything other than these. The valid condition for udhiyah is that it must be from Al-An'aam (livestock), which are camels, cattle, and sheep, and nothing else is valid. The only species that can be sacrificed are Bahiimat al-An'aam, and because udhiyah is an act of worship, like the hady (offering during Hajj), nothing is legislated except what has been reported from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
