What is meant by "a drink of honey," and is it better to eat honey as is or to dissolve it in water?

There is no prophetic hadith that explains how to consume honey. However, Ibn Al-Qayyim mentioned that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to drink it mixed with cold water. Honey can be drunk pure. The details of how to consume it should be referred to specialists among doctors. Consuming and licking it on an empty stomach dissolves phlegm and improves the health of the stomach, liver, kidneys, and bladder.
