What is the ruling on the father of the wife demanding the deferred portion of the dowry after the wife has relinquished it and forgiven her husband?

The Mahr (dower) is a right of the wife, and she has the right to relinquish it, or part of it. If she does so, and she is an adult of sound mind, then that (obligation) is dropped from the husband. She is not permitted to retract her gift, unless she made the gift for a reason that was not fulfilled for her.

The wife has the right to refuse to surrender herself (to her husband) until she receives her prompt Mahr, not the deferred one. However, if she has surrendered herself and the husband has consummated the marriage with her, then she does not have the right to refuse thereafter. Nevertheless, she has the right to sue the husband if he does not pay her the Mahr on its due date.
