Are the Fajr and Sobh prayers performed together, or is the Sobh prayer slightly delayed after Fajr?

There are two prayers at dawn (Fajr time): the Fajr Sunnah (supererogatory prayer) and the two obligatory rak'ahs (units). You begin with the two rak'ahs of the Fajr Sunnah, in which you recite after Al-Fatiha, "Say, 'O disbelievers!'" (Surah Al-Kafirun) in the first rak'ah, and "Say, 'He is Allah, [who is] One'" (Surah Al-Ikhlas) in the second. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was diligent in observing this prayer. Then, you make the call to prayer (Iqamah) and pray the two obligatory rak'ahs, in which you recite aloud. This obligatory prayer is more beloved to Allah than the Sunnah prayer. It can be prayed immediately after the Sunnah or delayed slightly; the important thing is that the prayer time does not expire.
