Is it permissible to make a person who has stepped forward to lead the prayer retreat so that someone else may lead it, even if that person did not request it?

If the imam who came forward is agreeable and meets the conditions for imamate, and there is no one in the congregation more deserving than him, then no one has the right to prevent him or object to him. Nor should he be affected by the objection or abandon the mosque, because his eligibility for imamate means that he will not be harmed by such objections. However, if he is not qualified for imamate, then the people's objection and their putting forward someone else is correct, because the matter of imamate is significant, and the imam is a guarantor for the validity of the congregants' prayer.
