What is meant by the intention of divorce, and how can a man determine his intention when uttering allusive divorce phrases during anger and dispute?

For divorce to occur through allusive (ambiguous) terms, it is conditional that the man intends the ambiguous term to mean divorce, and that he intends to effect a divorce upon his wife. We advise against excessive questioning and delving into minute details regarding divorce matters, as this opens the door to obsessive thoughts (waswas) and confounds the mind. Furthermore, over-elaboration in questioning is reprehensible in Islamic law.
