What is the view of the Sunni Muslims regarding Ibn Rushd the grandfather and the grandson?

Ibn Rushd al-Jadd (the grandfather) was a Maliki scholar, a jurist, a memorizer of fiqh, and held a prominent position in it over all people of his era. He was insightful regarding the sayings of the Maliki imams. Among his works are "Al-Muqaddimat" and "Al-Bayan wa al-Tahsil." He lived for seventy years. As for Ibn Rushd al-Hafid (the grandson), he was a brilliant scholar in fiqh, medicine, and philosophy. However, he was criticized for his preoccupation with philosophy, his inclination towards the Batiniyya doctrine, and his negation of some of God's attributes. Among his works are "Bidayat al-Mujtahid," "Tahafut al-Tahafut," and "Fasl al-Maqal." He served as Qadi of Cordoba, then was ostracized due to accusations related to philosophy, and died while imprisoned.
