Is Ibn Rushd, the author of "Al-Bidayah," the same person as Ibn Rushd, the philosopher? And if they are one person, how can we acquire knowledge from him? Or are they two different people, and who are they?

Ibn Rushd, the author of Bidayat al-Mujtahid, is indeed the same philosopher known as Al-Hafid (the Grandson), and he has a grandfather who was a Maliki jurist. No one was invited to read his books on philosophy, but he was knowledgeable in the Maliki school of thought and was skilled in understanding the reasons for disagreements. Therefore, one can benefit from what he excelled in. Scholars have continued to transmit from him and to study fiqh based on his book Bidayat al-Mujtahid.
