ما هي عدة المتوفى عنها زوجها إذا توفي زوجها وهي في فترة النفاس؟

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The widow whose husband has passed away observes an ’iddah (waiting period) of four months and ten days, even if she gives birth a week after the four months and ten days [have begun], due to the Almighty’s saying: "And those of you who die and leave wives behind them, they (the wives) shall wait (as regards their marriage) for four months and ten days." The blood after childbirth is post-natal bleeding (nifas), not menstruation, unless it exceeds forty days, in which case it is irregular bleeding (istihada), unless it coincides with the woman's usual menstrual period after the forty days, in which case it is considered menstruation.
