Is it permissible for a man to wear a white gold (platinum) ring?

A man is not permitted to wear a gold ring, due to what has been authentically reported from the Messenger of Allah, Allah's prayers and peace be upon him: "Gold and silk have been made lawful for the females of my Ummah and forbidden for its males." What is forbidden for men is gold, regardless of its color or type. As for other metals, wearing a ring made from them is not forbidden for men, unless it involves imitation of women or non-Muslims.
