Is it permissible for a husband to force his wife to receive his children from his other wife, threatening her with divorce if she refuses, and is he entitled to open a gateway between their two houses without their consent?

It is not permissible for a woman to refuse to admit her husband's young children into her home as long as they do not distinguish sexual intercourse. The Hanafis also hold that their cohabitation with her is permissible, and the Malikis permit it unless they have a caregiver other than their father. She is not obligated to veil herself from them, even if they are adults, because they are her mahrams. As for opening a connecting door between the homes of two wives, it is permissible as long as each wife has her own private home and there is no harm to either of them, because the purpose of a wife's right to lodging is for her to feel secure and tranquil.
