The Sunnah method for performing ghusl (ritual bath) after major ritual impurity (janabah) begins with washing the hands, then washing the private parts, then performing ablution (wudu') for prayer. After that, one should run their fingers through the roots of their hair and pour three handfuls of water over the head. Then, water should be poured over the rest of the body. It is recommended to start with the right side of the head and body, and then wash the feet.
