What is the ruling on someone who remembers Allah and abandons a sin while in the midst of committing it?

Whoever remembers Allah and abandons disobedience after having initiated it is upon a great good, and a great reward is hoped for him. Allah Almighty said: "And those who, when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins - and who can forgive sins except Allah? - and do not persist in what they have done while they know." This is indicated by the story of the man who intended to commit indecency with his cousin but then abandoned it for fear of Allah, so Allah relieved their distress. The Prophet informed that whoever intends to commit a sin and then abandons it for fear of Allah, a good deed is written for him. So, what about one who abandons it after having initiated it? This action carries a great reward and is considered a sincere repentance.
