What is the ruling on persisting in sin despite knowing its consequences, and without a strong desire, but believing in Allah's forgiveness and pardon?

Among the effects of sins is familiarization with disobedience and the generation of one sin by another until it becomes difficult to abandon them. They become deeply ingrained habits and inseparable traits, causing the perpetrator to feel pain upon leaving them, just as an alcoholic treats himself with alcohol. It is incumbent upon the Muslim to repent from sins, both minor and major, and not to rely on Allah's forgiveness while persisting in disobedience; for that is the path of the forsaken. Good expectation of Allah is for one who repents, abandons sins, replaces evil deeds with good ones, and perfects his actions; otherwise, it is delusion and ignorance.
