Is a husband's suspicion of his wife without cause, his surveillance of her, his placement of recording devices to monitor her, and his tracking of her from one place to another, considered normal, or is he afflicted with something undesirable? And what is the advice in this situation?
Firstly: It is not permissible for a husband to doubt his wife without evidence or clear indications. He must fear Allah and beware of evil suspicions, spying, and slandering, for Allah Almighty says: (O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy) and His saying: (Indeed, those who [falsely] accuse chaste, unaware [of the evil charge against them], believing women are cursed in this world and the Hereafter, and they will have a great punishment). He must dispel these doubts by reflecting on his wife's righteousness and chastity, and he can confront her to clarify matters. If the obsessive thoughts persist, he should consult a psychiatrist.
Secondly: The reasons for husbands' suspicions are numerous and may not be related to the wife. The wife must endure the husband's harm, gently rebuke him, and pray for his guidance. She must avoid situations that arouse suspicion, such as using her mobile phone in a way that raises doubts, and she should clear herself of any accusations by clarifying suspicious matters, following the example of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. If the husband persists in his suspicions and harm, the wife has the right to seek separation.
