Is a person considered to be in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) and required to perform ghusl if a doctor takes a sample of his semen by pressing the prostate with a finger?

Firstly: Masturbation is forbidden, but if it is for examination and treatment, there is no harm in it.

Secondly: If semen is discharged:

1. With pleasure (which is the predominant case): Ghusl (ritual bath) is obligatory by the consensus of scholars.

2. Without pleasure (due to illness or without intentional stimulation): Ghusl is not obligatory according to the majority of scholars, and this is the correct view.

This applies to a waking person. As for a sleeping person, ghusl is obligatory for him absolutely, whether it is discharged with pleasure or without it. Imam Al-Shafi'i held the view that the discharge of semen obligates ghusl absolutely, due to the generality of the hadith "Water (ghusl) is from water (semen)". While the majority of scholars stipulate for the discharge of semen that it must be ejaculated with pleasure. The correct view is that its discharge from a waking person without pleasure does not necessitate ghusl.
