What is the ruling on making up prayers, and are they obligatory for the days when blood spotting occurred while taking menstruation-delaying pills, followed by the usual days of menstruation?
The prevalent view is that any blood a woman sees during a period suitable for menstruation is considered menses, because the menstrual period can come earlier or later, or increase or decrease.
So, if the wife sees blood fifteen days or more after the cessation of the previous menstruation, and it lasts less than fifteen days, then it is menstruation, and she is not required to make up the prayers.
However, if she experiences a period of purity (dryness) interspersed within her menstruation, she is obligated to perform (ritual purification) upon seeing this purity, as it is considered a valid state of purity. She is then required to make up the prayers she missed during that interspersed period of purity.
