ما هو الجزور الذي يشترك في ذبحه عشرة أشخاص؟

Jurists have differed regarding the number of people for whom a camel (jazoūr), whether a she-camel or a male camel, is sufficient as an Udhiyah (sacrifice). The majority opinion is that it suffices for seven, while others hold that it suffices for ten.

- The majority based their view on the Hadith of Jabir, who stated that they slaughtered with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, at Hudaybiyah, a camel for seven and a cow for seven.

- Those who held that it suffices for ten relied on the Hadith of Rafi’, which states that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, divided and equated ten sheep with one camel, and on the Hadith of Ibn Abbas, which states that they shared a camel among ten.

- Ibn Qudamah said: "A camel suffices for seven, and likewise a cow. This is the opinion of most scholars," adding that the Hadith of Jabir is more authentic.

- The intention of those who do not share (in the sacrifice) does not matter, whether they are from the same household or not, or if some intend closeness to Allah while others intend merely the meat.
