Why do I not feel the reality of seeking forgiveness when I am steadfast in obedience to Allah, despite my awareness that we are all sinners, while I do feel it when committing a sin?

Allah is the Bestower of grace through your existence and your deeds. Thus, there is no meaning in being amazed by one's actions, for Paradise is not attained by deeds alone, but by the grace and mercy of Allah, as stated in the Qudsi Hadith. Whatever acts of obedience a servant performs, he hopes for their acceptance from Allah, for acceptance is for the pious, and piety is to obey Allah according to His light, hoping for His mercy, and to abandon disobedience according to His light, fearing His punishment. Piety in action is achieved through sincerity to Allah and conformity to the Sharia. Righteous believers perform acts of obedience while their hearts tremble from the fear of non-acceptance, not from the fear of punishment for sins. The sign of happiness is to obey and fear that your deeds may not be accepted, and the sign of wretchedness is to disobey and hope to escape. One should combine fear and hope; hope is for those who fall short, that they may have a good opinion of Allah, and for those who obey, that they may hope for acceptance. Forgiveness is for those who repent, believe, do righteous deeds, and then are guided. One should not intentionally commit sins hoping for forgiveness, because you cannot guarantee success in repentance or its acceptance. Continue with righteous deeds while hoping for acceptance, and when you sin, seek Allah's forgiveness, and remember the Prophet's constant seeking of forgiveness. Seek knowledge, remember death, and study the biography of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the characteristics of believers to remove doubts and keep you firm in obedience.
