To progress in studying books, start with "Al-Arba'in an-Nawawiyyah" (An-Nawawi's Forty Hadiths) (with the commentary of Shaykh Muhammad ibn Uthaymin), then "Umdat al-Ahkam" (The Mainstay of Rulings) (with the commentary of Shaykh Abdullah al-Bassam), then "Riyadh as-Salihin" (The Gardens of the Righteous) (with the commentary of Shaykh Ibn Uthaymin).
As for (Quranic exegesis), begin with "Zubdat at-Tafsir" (The Quintessence of Tafsir) by Shaykh Al-Ashqar, then "Tayseer al-Kareem ar-Rahman fi Tafsir Kalam al-Mannan" (The Facilitation from the Most Generous, the Most Merciful, in Interpreting the Words of the Bestower) by Shaykh Ibn Sa'di, and "Al-Misbah al-Muneer fi Ikhtisar Tafsir Ibn Katheer" (The Luminous Lamp in the Abridgement of Tafsir Ibn Kathir).
