Is it permissible for the wife's mother to take her daughter, whose husband has passed away, to her family's home for her post-childbirth confinement (nifas), especially out of fear that she might be compelled to intermingle with her husband's brothers, particularly since the husband's family will leave the house and only the males will remain therein by themselves?

A woman whose husband has died must observe her 'iddah (definition) (waiting period) in the marital home and should not move from it except for a valid excuse, according to the hadith (definition) of Furay'ah bint Malik. The majority of jurists are of the opinion that a woman observing 'iddah after her husband's death must remain in the marital home she resided in at the time of his death, whether it was owned, borrowed, or rented. However, if it is impossible for her to stay in the marital home due to mixing with men, she must move to another place where she can observe her 'iddah safely.
