Is drawing cartoon characters forbidden, and if so, is it permissible to draw them without facial features?

Drawing animate beings by hand is prohibited according to the majority of scholars, with the exception of images whose features are not clear, and images from which a part essential for life, such as the head, is removed. There is no harm in drawing inanimate objects like trees. It is advised to utilize time in what benefits one in the Hereafter.
